Holly Cole appeared (as a Chicago nightclub singer) on a couple of episodes of Due South. In Chicago Holiday, Part 1, she performed this moving rendition of Neon Blue.
Note: Due South was an enjoyable police comedy-drama that ran from 1994 to 1999 that played on the stereotypical differences between Canadian and American culture. Set in Chicago, the show follows the adventures of Constable Benton Fraser, an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who is attached to the Canadian consulate but works with Detective Raymond Vecchio of the Chicago Police Department to solve crimes, assisted by Fraser’s companion Diefenbaker, a deaf white wolf. Fraser’s extremely polite persona and exceptional tracking and detection abilities are contrasted against Detective Vecchio’s lack of manners and corner-cutting methods.
