I was honored to have Marianne Ihlen, who died July 28, 2016, as a reader of my Leonard Cohen posts. She was especially gracious to me, writing to provide information or (kindly) correct errors. She also commented on specific posts. The last Facebook comment Marianne made on a Cohencentric post is shown above, dated July 14, 2016.
To Leonard’s declaration, “I would love to hear me [singing] at 82,” Marianne wrote
Would love to hear you at 82 Leonard, with your Golden tongue.
That phrase echos Marianne’s recollection, “My grandmother said I will meet a man who speaks with a tongue of gold”1
Note: I’ve edited the graphic, eliminating comments other than Marianne’s and, of course, marking her comment in red.
I am republishing selected posts from my former Leonard Cohen site, Cohencentric, here on AllanShowalter.com (these posts can be found at Leonard Cohen). This entry was originally posted July 30, 2016.
