Baby, Let’s Get Married – The Found Photos

Ah baby, let’s get married,
We’ve been alone too long
Let’s be alone together
Let’s see if we’re that strong
Yeah let’s do something crazy,
Something absolutely wrong
While we’re waiting
For the miracle,
for the miracle to come

The Official Start Of An Outrageously Happy Marriage

My recent post, July 20, 1980: Julie & Allan Showalter Marry, reminded me of these photos of the ceremony that had been lost for at least 25 years until I happened onto them one morning in 2010 (when I originally posted them on 1HeckOfAGuy.com).

The younger lady in these photos is Rachel, Julie’s beloved daughter from her first marriage.

Julie Showalter

Julie Showalter was the fiercely intelligent, sexy, and loving woman with whom I had a outrageously wonderful marriage that ended with her death in late 1999 from cancer diagnosed the week of our wedding nearly 20 years earlier. She was also a brilliant scholar, the mother of our two sons, and a prize-winning author. Many posts on this blog are about her and still others consist of her writings. Julie’s Story is the account of our unlikely romance, Information can be found at Julie Showalter FAQ.
