“Why would [Bob Dylan] go for Jesus at a late time like this? … I don’t get the Jesus part.” Leonard Cohen – As Reported By Jennifer Warnes

During the period from 1979 to 1981, Bob Dylan, who had been raised in a Jewish home and underwent his bar mitzvah at 13, converted to evangelical Christianity. By 1982 he had returned to Judaism. His divergence into Christianity did not go unnoticed by Leonard Cohen.

Note: Leonard Cohen himself was notably pro-Jesus. See, for example, “Any guy who says ‘Blessed are the poor, Blessed are the meek’ has got to be a figure of unparallelled generosity and insight and madness” Leonard Cohen On Jesus Christ.
