Online Again: Allison Crowe’s Ecstatic Rendition Of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”

Note: Originally posted Nov 27, 2012 at 1HeckOfAGuy.com, a predecessor of Cohencentric, this rendition of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” had been removed from the internet, but Adrian du Plessis, Allison Crowe’s Personable Manager, graciously granted my Christmas plea by making it available once more.

Allison Crowe – From 0 To Merry In 37 Seconds

In just 37 seconds, Allison Crowe delivers an a capella version of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” that is – and I don’t think I’ve ever used this word to describe a Christmas carol – exciting. If you’ve been looking for something innocuously pleasant to play in the background while you videotape the kids begrudgingly hanging those Waterford crystal ornaments on the fire-retardant PVC limbs of your prelit, flocked Norway Spruce Christmas tree, well you can keep on looking because this ain’t it. On the other hand if you’re into something more enthusiastically, gleefully, contagiously joyous … welcome home.

The audio track is from Crowe’s just released “Tidings Concert” album, which features 19 in-concert performances and, for the first time, audio from Crowe’s “Hallelujah” video, which has been viewed over eight million times on YouTube alone and more than ten million times worldwide. Other videos from this album will be posted soon. More information about Allison Crowe, the “Tidings Concert” album, a related documentary film, and her Tidings Concert Tour (beginning Nov 29, 2012) can be found at her official web site.
