After all the to-do about the Leonard Cohen Cheetos Midnight Run Photo I posted after Leonard sent it my way, I searched for precedents. Of course, I had already published That Midnight Run Wasn’t For Leonard Cohen’s First Bag Of Cheetos. Now, I’ve discovered the cheesy snack appearing on Cohen album covers.
Note the Cheetos in the lower left corner of the Death Of A Ladies’ Man album (shown atop this post). Now, only part of the bag is visible and and the bright colors of the Cheetos packaging are lost because of the black and white photo mode, potentially explaining why this item has been overlooked before. On the other hand, I don’t understand why no one noticed the bag of Cheetos beside Leonard on the Old Ideas cover; I guess we just weren’t paying attention.
I am republishing selected posts from my former Leonard Cohen site, Cohencentric, here on AllanShowalter.com (these posts can be found at Leonard Cohen). This entry was originally posted Sept 18, 2015.
