Video: Dino Soldo Recites “Beneath My Hands” By Leonard Cohen

This one is very special. To me it is the best poem Leonard Cohen ever wrote. I miss him greatly.

Dino Soldo

Dino Soldo, aka the Master Of Breath, played electric and acoustic wind instruments, guitar, keyboards and chromatic harmonica on the 2008-2010 Leonard Cohen tours. Since then, he has then best known as a sideman for Lionel Richie. Yesterday, Dino uploaded a video of his recitation of “Beneath My Hands” by Leonard Cohen from Selected Poems, 1956-1968.

  1. A beautiful reading of Beneath My Hands, from The Spice Box of Earth. I wish other good readers of poetry would follow Dino’s example.
There are numerous covers of the songs, but readings of the poetry are scarce. Granted, it is a daunting enterprise to attempt readings of Leonard Cohen’s poems when the poet himself read his own work with such depth and passion. I’m a singer, but I may find the courage to read a few myself.
Thanks Dino! A lovely homage to your soul friend in music and poetry…lovely accompaniment as well. Nice post, Allan….
