  1. Allan, I love this photo because I hold Leonard Cohen and dogs close to my heart. Dogs make us human. Your caption “Leonard Cohen & His Friend, Gershwin” says it all. Dogs have been our “Friends” for thousands of years and evidence is emerging that “the domestication of dogs may even have been one of the key forces that led to fully modern humans”.

    The fact that dogs liked Leonard Cohen speaks to his humanity. Leonard Cohen’s love of dogs affirms and sustains an ancient and deep friendship between two species who apparently transformed each other, for each other.
