The Girl-Boy-Girl Album Cover, first discussed in a Jan 2008 1HeckOfAGuy post, is identified by a certain paradigm: the male singer flanked by two provocatively posed women.

The best known specimen in this exclusive group is, of course, Leonard Cohen’s 1977 “Death Of A Ladies’ Man” (shown above). From left to right are Eva LaPierre,1 Leonard Cohen, and Suzanne Elrod, the mother of Adam and Lorca Cohen. The album notes credit the shot to “Anonymous Roving Photographer At A Forgotten Polynesian Restaurant.”

The album cover of Pete Townshend’s 1980 “Empty Glass” (shown below) is the latest addition – after a three and a half year lag – to this group.

The oldest known specimen in this category, however, is Art Garfunkel’s “Breakaway” (1977).

Released in 2000, the cover of Mike Randle’s “My Music Loves You (Even If I Don’t)” intentionally and accurately recreates the front of Leonard Cohen’s “Death Of a Ladies Man.” For good measure, the back and spine of Randle’s album also mimics Leonard’s.

Update: Oct 28, 2013: Greg Ashley’s “Death of a Ladies’ Man” album contains Ashley’s covers of the Leonard Cohen-Phil Spector songs from Cohen’s “Death of a Ladies’ Man” album. The cover art is, fittingly, an emulation of the cover of the original Cohen album.
