With the pre-release streaming of Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker album beginning Oct 14 and the announcement three days ago of Bob Dylan being awarded a Nobel Prize, Cohencentric has become quite the popular cyber hangout. Yesterday [at time of original posting: Oct 16, 2016], in fact, Cohencentric garnered its greatest number of daily views thus far – a tad over 40,000 unique real-human hits.
Update: This record lasted only a month or so, superseded when Leonard Cohen died.
And over the past two record-setting days the most popular Cohencentric post was Leonard Cohen On Bob Dylan’s Nobel Prize: “It’s like pinning a medal on Mount Everest for being the highest mountain”
While internet popularity certainly has little correlation with real life significance, it is still, on occasion, nice to know “You like me. You really like me.”
I am republishing selected posts from my former Leonard Cohen site, Cohencentric, here on AllanShowalter.com (these posts can be found at Leonard Cohen). This entry was originally posted Oct 16, 2016.
