Introduction – 2022
A few years ago, the Duchess and I refurbished our Chapel Hill, NC digs, which called to mind our experiences when we began living together at our Main Street apartment in Durham. I first posted this episode Apr 23, 2012. The books (and shelves) still reside with us.
Books, Books, Books, Books…
Later this morning the Duchess and I will take delivery of the 99 (yes, we counted – twice) boxes of unsorted books that have been in storage in Chicago the past five years.
These represent the remains of the library previously housed at a former, much larger domicile. A portion of the upstairs section of that library can be seen below in the background of my demonstration of the dismount from the walker to which I was chained while recovering from a broken hip.1
Vs Shelves
Penny’s Christmas gift was shelving of the sort seen below. We calculate we have enough space to accommodate about two-thirds of those books.
The Consequences
I hope to resume less bookish postings soon.
Impressive dismount, Allan! I would have wound up crumpled on the floor with a broken arm, hip, and concussion!
