Chief Inspector Armand Gamache’s Three Questions To Ask Before Speaking

Ongoing readers may remember that The Duchess & I are enchanted with Louise Penny’s Chief Inspector Armand Gamache novels. In a previous post, I noted that “among the unanticipated benefits of reading these books has been Chief Inspector Gamache’s “four things that lead to wisdom.” The most recent entry to this series, A Better Man, offers equally profound and useful advice:

“Before speaking…you might want to ask yourself three questions…Is it true? Is it kind? Does it need to be said?”

DrHGuy Note: While Ms Penny has placed these words in the mouth of her protagonist, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, as advice in general, I would especially promote these self-queries as criteria for posting comments on social media.
